Enough already – it’s here! The iPad.

After weeks, months, YEARS of tech anticipation, Apple has officially announced the latest member of their family- the iPad.

Here’s what you need to know in short.

In between a smart phone and a laptop the iPad will be a great tool for email and web browsing, ebooks, watching video and gaming (a market which Apple is trying to get more into). With touch screen capabilities, a virtual keyboard and of course apps - think of it like a larger iPod Touch or iPhone interface.

Under 2lbs, just a half inch thick and sporting a 10 inch screen, the iPad will start at $499 and go up to $699 depending on storage size. This is good news considering most sources anticipated it would run at around $1000.

The other thing that I love is the ability to purchase the iPad with the AT&T 3G built in ($130 more a piece).

Desirable? Absolutely. Look for them in about 60 days.

Beef Jerky Business Cards - Be Memorable!

As I handed my contact info to a client today I was impressed by my 2x3 circuit board watermark design a la a custom business card. Then, my favorite toy designer Jason Freeny upstaged me and sent me a link to meatcards.com.

Meatcards bring us what no entrepreneur has provided before... laser etched beef jerky business cards. Thats right, on this All-American made slab of meat proudly lays four business cards displaying your custom contact info.

For just 29.95 a slab how dare you not try? And PS - read the name on the card - American Pshycho style- awesome!

40 Miles on the Panama Canal.

Remember the long history lessons on how crazy it was to dig out the Panama Canal? Well, even if you spaced out during those lessons you still know that it is one of the world's most amazing engineer feats. And now, the Canal is expanding with the addition of a third lane. A 5.25 billion dollar project that will nearly double capacity as a new set of locks will allow for larger ships to get to and from each ocean. Pretty fascinating.

You can follow their progress on twitter @thirdlane or read a great article in this month's Popular Mechanics.

Or, if you're like me and recall learning the most about the Panama Canal through Animaniacs you can re-live that here.

Give the gift of disease.

Toxic Mold, Flesh Eating Disease, Salmonella- take your pick. There is no better way to say ‘Thinking of You’ or ‘Happy Birthday’ than a petri dish full of inhumane bacteria. Great for ones desk are these super cute stuffed animals 1,000,000x the size of the real deal. From personal experience, gift recipient was confused and excited at the same time which equates to victory!

Including but not limited to: Rabies, E. Coli, T4 and The Plague.

Sea Slug Seemingly Confused.

Bizarre and fascinating- scientists have found that this sea slug, or its dog show name, Elysia chlorotica- is likely half-plant, half-animal.

Basically, the slug produces its own cholorphyll enabling it to carry out photosynthesis - and if you remember from 7th grade science that allows the little friend to make energy out of sunlight whereas it doesn't have to eat because it makes its own energy molecules. It's like the Prius of species!

The hypothesis is the creature has stolen the skills to create chlorophyll from the very own algae it eats.

Biologist Sidney Pierce has been studying the slug for 20 years and noted, "It certainly is possible that DNA from one species can get into another species, as these slugs have clearly shown," ...."But the mechanisms are still unknown."

CES concludes. The Winner =3D TV.

Ahh, the glorious annually awaited Consumer Electronics Show has ended in Vegas. And as always, there is some pretty exciting tech right around the corner. Some featured CES favorites include; TV video conferencing (Skype style), The Light Touch Pico Projector, and ... even when you thought film wouldnt make it into a 2010 CES blog, the Polaroid Pic-1000 Model.

But the overall rage was hands down 3D TV. And I gotta say – this is a novel must! While networks like ESPN, Fox and DirecTV all promise 3D channels in 2011 and 3D glasses will allow you to catch Favre airing out a 4th and 20 prayer that you'll be grabbing for, there is more to the 3D rage than just channels. 3D TV is really opening up a whole new Narnia; 3D TV Test Labs, 3D VOD, 2D-to-3D conversion and of course new lines of 3D Televisions in themselves. It may be frustrating for anyone that just splurged on a new HDTV and you may be wondering if and how you can still opt in…. well, all hope is not lost and here is a great article from InteractiveTV Today to really sum it all up.

37 ways to say ... it's just not working out.

Valentine's Day is right around the corner. And if there is one candy that is underrated it's the classic box of conversation hearts brought to us from the fine people at Necco. Taste like hot trash but yet each edible gem conveys such a powerful, nearly unreadable message.

While I respect the new age modern hearts with techie tags like "FAX ME" this year may I recommend an upgrade to Bittersweets from Despair, Inc. A box of 'Dysfunctional' or 'Dejected' hearts is the perfect compliment to that cheesy stuffed animal you picked up from Walgreens 10 minutes before your V-Day Date. Or how about a bold box of 'Dumped' to get the job done as opposed to an IM, text, or change of Facebook relationship status.

With 37 messages per tin you are bound to find some instant winners including but not limited to: PURE NAUSEA, ANNULMENT, GAME ON TV or I MISS MY EX.
